The Significance and Science of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Presentation by Steve Hemler and Lee Granger of the Catholic Apologetics Institute of North America (CAINA)

Our Lady of Guadalupe is the title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary following her appearance to Juan Diego, a Mexican farmer, in the hills above Mexico City in 1531. But how can we be so sure about something that occurred so long ago in such an out-of-the-way place? The answer is truly astounding!

This multimedia presentation covers the history of the apparitions but, more importantly, examines scientific studies of an amazing relic of the event which survives to this day. The cloak of Juan Diego, made from coarse cactus fibers, miraculously bears a detailed, full-color image of the Virgin Mary that has persisted for over 500 years without any signs of deterioration. Attendees will learn about the amazing results of modern scientific analysis that has been performed on this cloak.
